Medik8 offer progressive strengths of retinol (0.3%, 0.6%,1%) in the Intelligent Retinol TR range, for every level of retinol user. We recommend Intelligent Retinol ™ 3TR for those new to vitamin A, or as an upgrade from Night Ritual Vitamin A. From there, you can work your way up the ladder over time.

The Intelligent Retinol serums are enriched with emollient oil squalane, which leaves the skin nourished and helps to support the integration of retinol into a skincare regime.

Retinol, also known as vitamin A, is often referred to as the gold standard in anti-ageing skincare. When applied to the skin, it helps improve the visible signs of premature skin ageing, resulting in visibly plumper, more youthful-looking skin. It can also help promote cell turnover and diminish the appearance of pigmentation, for a visibly smooth, more evenly toned complexion.

The results-driven serum is enriched with climbazole, a proven retinol-booster. Climbazole works by helping to block the enzyme which breaks down retinoic acid, meaning a reservoir of retinoic acid is left in the skin. This prolongs and enhances the anti-ageing effects without incurring any additional irritation.

Retinol has the potential to cause some irritation when first introducing it into a skincare regime. Time Release Technology, found in all Medik8 vitamin A products, helps to minimise irritation while maximising visible results. Our Intelligent Retinol serum protects retinol in a polymer reservoir, essentially working as a protective shield between retinol and the skin. The polymer reservoir slows down how quickly the retinol is able to penetrate into the skin, gently delivering the active into the skin throughout the night.

The Intelligent formula is delivered in a silky, squalane-infused serum. squalane is a skin-identical oil that effortlessly slips into the natural skin barrier, infusing the complexion with nightly moisture while supporting the integration of retinol into your skincare routine. By being a water-free formulation, we have secured the stability of the powerful, yet fragile retinol molecule.

1. After cleansing in the evening, massage 4 drops of retinol across the face, neck and décolletage.

2. Follow with your regular Medik8 moisturiser. We recommend Advanced Night Restore, designed to be used after vitamin A.

3. Retinol application should be phased in gradually. Use twice a week for the first 2 weeks, every other night for the next 2 weeks, then every night. Consult a doctor if breastfeeding or pregnant. You should always use a sunscreen in the morning while using vitamin A.
